You do not need a word for everything on day one. Start with the situations that are already on your calendar.

Build a small set of phrases around your actual week. Practise the likely reply as well as your opening sentence, and keep a way to ask for clarification ready.

This is a practice plan, not a fluency deadline. Rearrange it around your needs. If you have an appointment tomorrow, prepare that before learning shopping vocabulary.
Meeting a neighbour
Bonjour, je suis votre nouveau voisin. Je m’appelle Alex.

Welcome! Where have you come from?De Londres. Je viens d’emménager au deuxième étage.
From London. I’ve just moved in on the second floor.Enchantée. Moi, c’est Sophie.
Nice to meet you. I’m Sophie.Use nouvelle voisine for a female neighbour introducing herself. Change the city and floor to your own details.
Three phrases to keep close
Je cherche…
“I’m looking for…” Add the item or place you need.
Est-ce que je peux payer par carte ?
“Can I pay by card?”
Il y a un problème avec le chauffage.
“There is a problem with the heating.” Swap le chauffage for what you need to describe.
Introduce yourself to a neighbour. Say that you have just moved in.

“Hello, my name is Alex. I’ve just moved into the building. Nice to meet you!” Change the name; use enchantée in writing if you use the feminine form.
Prepare the response, too
An opening line is only half the task. List two replies you might hear. For appointments: “What time?” and “We’re fully booked.” Try the phone-call example, or explore coaching before your move.
